Grant Thornton advised Energa Group in an M&A transaction in the renewable energy market

The experts from Grant Thornton supported Energa Wytwarzanie, a subsidiary of Energa from the Orlen Group, in the acquisition of new renewable energy sources – a wind farm and photovoltaic installations – from Greenvolt Power.

As part of the transaction, Grant Thornton provided services in the areas of financial and tax due diligence, financial and transactional advisory, prepared a financial model and valuation.

The transaction includes two renewable energy portfolios located in the Wielkopolskie voivodeship. The first portfolio, Opalenica, consists of three photovoltaic farms with a total capacity of 22 MW. The second portfolio, the hybrid project in Sompolno, combines wind turbines with a capacity of 26 MW and a 10 MW photovoltaic installation. According to current plans, the Opalenica project is expected to reach full operational readiness in December 2023, while Sompolno is expected to be operational by June 2024. The estimated value of the transaction is approximately 107 million euros.

Energa Wytwarzanie SA operates in the field of electricity generation from renewable energy sources and provides system services. The company manages the largest flow-through Hydro Power Plant in Włocławek, 44 small hydroelectric power plants located mainly in northern Poland, the Pumped-Storage Power Plant in Żydowo, and operates six wind farms located in northern Poland.

Greenvolt Power is a company belonging to the Greenvolt Group, specializing in large-scale wind and photovoltaic projects. Poland is one of the main markets for the Greenvolt Group in terms of promoting, developing, and constructing large wind and photovoltaic projects. The company is currently implementing installations with a capacity of 6.9 GW.
