Grant Thornton advised Enea Nowa Energia on the acquisition of wind farms from European Energy

Grant Thornton experts provided advisory services to Enea Nowa Energia, a subsidiary of the Enea Group, in the acquisition of six wind farms from European Energy, with a total capacity of 83.5 MW, located in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. The transaction value may reach up to PLN 914 million.

As part of the transaction, Grant Thornton advisors conducted financial and tax due diligence as well as transaction advisory services. As part of the transaction process, a fairness opinion was conducted to confirm the market viability of the financial model assumptions and transaction price.

Grant Thornton is consistently involved in energy transition projects. We are grateful to the Enea Group for their trust and the opportunity to contribute our expertise to this process.

The acquisition of wind farms from European Energy will significantly enhance Enea’s renewable energy portfolio. As a result of this investment, the installed capacity of renewable energy sources within the Enea Group will increase by 17%. Additionally, the transaction includes the planned purchase of a 25 MW “ready-to-build” photovoltaic project, to be developed alongside one of the wind farms.

The Enea Group transaction signals the return of investors to the renewable energy market after the slowdown in 2024. In 2025, we expect increased activity not only in generation installations but also in the energy storage segment.

Enea Group is one of the largest electricity producers in Poland, ensuring reliable energy supply to 2.6 million customers. The Group employs over 17,000 people across the country and owns two major system power plants—Kozienice Power Plant and Połaniec Power Plant. Additionally, the Group includes Lubelski Węgiel Bogdanka and is active in the district heating sector.

European Energy, the company from which Enea acquired the wind farms, operates in over 25 countries, developing wind, solar, and Power-to-X projects. It specializes in the development, construction, and operation of green energy projects. The company has been present in the Polish market since 2006, with 200 MW of installed renewable energy capacity and plans to develop projects exceeding 5 GW in total capacity
