Grant Thornton advised Relyon Group on the acquisition of Tomeco Pulp Systems

The advisory team at Grant Thornton had the pleasure of supporting Relyon Group – a leading provider of sustainable packaging and security solutions – in the acquisition of Tomeco Pulp Systems Sp. z o.o., a Polish manufacturer of protective packaging made from moulded fiber.

Our scope of work included conducting tax and financial due diligence as well as providing comprehensive transactional advisory services.

The transaction aligns with Relyon Group’s growth strategy of acquiring specialised companies offering innovative and environmentally friendly solutions. With the acquisition of Tomeco, Relyon strengthens its position in the sustainable packaging sector and enters the Polish market.

The Polish packaging market is highly fragmented, which attracts investors interested in consolidation and scaling operations. The lack of succession in many companies, the need for further development, and cost pressures additionally foster acquisitions.
In 2024, a significant portion of M&A transactions in the packaging sector had an international dimension, confirming the ongoing global consolidation of the industry. In Poland, companies are increasingly investing in eco-friendly packaging materials, such as biodegradable and recyclable packaging, in response to growing consumer expectations and increasingly stringent environmental regulations.

The growing importance of sustainable packaging solutions continues to attract investors who are showing increasing interest in companies specializing in environmentally friendly packaging production.
In 2025, the number of M&A transactions in the packaging sector is expected to continue to grow, particularly among companies offering innovative and sustainable solutions. Poland remains an attractive market for foreign investors seeking expansion opportunities in Central and Eastern Europe.
