Grant Thornton continues its expansion in Poland. With the acquisition of an 80% stake in IT Omega, the firm is expanding its digital offering with a new service line – IT outsourcing.

Grant Thornton in Poland is taking another important step in building its digital services portfolio. The Grant Thornton Group is joined by IT Omega, a provider of IT outsourcing services. Grant Thornton becomes a strategic investor in the company, taking up an 80% stake. In doing so, the firm expands its range of digital services, which complement its traditional audit, advisory and outsourcing services.

Przemysław Polaczek

Managing Partner of the Digital Drive team at Grant Thornton

"This is the third digital acquisition that Grant Thornton has made in the last six years. This time, our family is joined by an experienced, reputable company that offers clients long-term IT outsourcing cooperation. This fits very well with our business model. On the one hand, we are expanding our offering with a service that is increasingly in demand among clients. On the other, it is an opportunity to create a new, complementary value proposition for clients, including creating services that combine IT and cybersecurity which we have been offering for some time. Thirdly, outsourcing is our natural environment, and a business model that we want and know how to develop. To date, we have provided such services for accounting, human resources and payroll, and we will now also extend this support model to IT."

IT Omega was established in 2008 and currently employs a team of more than 30 people. It provides comprehensive services in IT outsourcing and management of IT environments, including subscription-based IT support for more than 140 clients in Poland and abroad. On a day-to-day basis, the company provides ongoing user support, manages servers, monitors backups, ensures network security, carries out migrations and implementations and implements complex IT projects. In doing so, it helps organisations achieve efficient and effective digital transformation. IT Omega stands out in the market with its business approach to IT, where technology is seen as a strategic tool to support clients’ business goals and processes. This means that IT is not treated as a separate department that operates in isolation, but as an integral part of the business that supports and drives its success.

Tomasz Janas

CEO of IT Omega

"Joining the Grant Thornton Group is an important step in the development of our business. First and foremost, it gives us the opportunity to reach out to new companies, i.e. existing Grant Thornton clients. In addition, by joining a larger and more diverse team of GT professionals, we are enhancing our capabilities. For example, our clients will gain access to Grant Thornton’s extensive and unique expertise in areas such as cybersecurity and digital tool design."

Following the transaction, Tomasz Janas will assume the position of IT Outsourcing Partner and continue as CEO of IT Omega.  His responsibilities will include managing the combined sales process of Immusec and IT Omega, driving cross-selling and up-selling, developing IT services, and building new value propositions for clients in the areas of cybersecurity and IT.

With the acquisition of IT Omega, Grant Thornton is taking another quantum leap forward with the Grant Thornton Digital Drive service line, which brings together digital consulting in its broadest sense, i.e. assisting businesses with IT, cybersecurity, designing digital tools and solutions, and supporting the digital transformation of businesses. Within the Grant Thornton Group, these services are provided by previous acquisitions Edisonda (2017) and Immusec (2019). The latter – following the planned merger with IT Omega – will change its name to Grant Thornton Technology.

Radosław Kaczorek

Partner at Grant Thornton Digital Drive

"Within IT, our main area of expertise to date has been cybersecurity. The acquisition of IT Omega means that our team is joined by a group of excellent IT professionals with a unique set of skills and experience, enabling us to take on complex projects from start to finish – from diagnosis, through design and implementation, to ensuring security and business continuity using unique knowledge and the latest technologies. Traditional consulting can be likened to a doctor writing a prescription and leaving the rest to the pharmacist and the patient himself. With the acquisition of IT Omega, we will be able to create new innovative services, develop the right formula and make sure it is well applied. Such a holistic approach is rare in the market, and highly desirable for clients, who will be able to work with our multidisciplinary team instead of multiple providers, while optimising their business development expenditure."
