Grant Thornton advised Neo Bio Energy on the acquisition of biogas plants in Kutno and Leżajsk

Neo Bio Energy has completed the acquisition of two biogas plants – in Kutno and Leżajsk – in one of the largest transactions involving the acquisition of existing biogas plants from private owners on the Polish market. Grant Thornton supported the client throughout the process by providing transaction advisory services and conducting financial and tax due diligence.

The transaction covered the acquisition of existing fermentation installations with a total capacity of 3 MW (2 MW in Kutno and 1 MW in Leżajsk) from private owners. The transaction value amounts to several dozen million Polish zlotys, making it the largest transaction involving the acquisition of operational biogas plants on the Polish market. The acquired assets operate in the renewable energy sector, within the biogas segment, and represent an important part of the developing low-emission fuels market.

Grant Thornton’s scope of work included transaction advisory services, including financial and tax due diligence. The team analysed key aspects of the acquired installations’ operations, identified potential risks and supported the client in making investment decisions.

The transaction is aligned with Neo Bio Energy’s strategy to expand its asset portfolio through the acquisition of installations with strong modernisation potential. The acquired biogas plants are to be expanded and adapted for biomethane production, enabling their use in the supply of renewable gas to the grid, industry and the transport sector. The transaction strengthens the company’s market position and supports its further expansion in the renewable energy sector.
